Author, Henry Blackaby, says missions “is God finding those whose hearts are right with Him and placing them where they can make a difference for His kingdom.”  He goes on to say, “He first looks for those willing to have their lives radically adjusted away from their self-centered activities and placed into the center of God’s activity…”.  Wait, that could mean that he has sent you to make a difference right where you are now!  Do you mean we could all be on a mission?

I don’t like the “self-centered activities” comment.  But now that I think of it, one of the hallmarks of the “holiness” tradition, out of which the Church of the Nazarene was born, was missions.  Our holiness message is one of surrendering self and allowing God, through the work of the Holy Spirit, to cleanse my surrendered heart and empowering me to live out purified motives – doing God’s will, not mine – willing to have my life “radically adjusted” by the continual work of His grace.  At Trinity, you are a part of a great heritage of Nazarenes

The Christian life is wonderful but it is not about our comfort and ease.  It is about the mission, about the Kingdom, about eternity.  It is a serious invitation to “take up your cross”  (surrender self-interest, self-protection, self-reliance, self-importance, self…) and follow Him.  Today.  At work.  At home.  Right where he has you now.  You are not there by accident. Let him use you today.

• Pray for Pete and Candy Yost serving with Cru in the South Pacific region.
• Pray for Emily Burke who is serving with Extreme Nazarene.
• Pray for our Mission Partner Sunday, April 29. This Sunday John Cunningham will be sharing about the Jesus Film ministry.  Pray that people will come ready to hear from God and join in the Nazarene Global mission financially and prayerfully over the next six months.  Remember we are to scatter the seed generously everywhere!  If you can’t be there, be sure to send your commitment with someone or send it to the office.

“We can’t control whether we will be famous, but with God’s empowerment we can choose to be faithful!” (Another made up quote from Alan, I think.)  What a great heritage we have in the Kingdom!
